The Real Kathy

Welcome!

Drama, acting, and writing have been a part of my life since I was in high school. I love the creative process, designing new characters, planning crazy costumes, searching for bigger and bigger wigs, and then using these hilarious, colorful tools to bring a zany character to life. I am grateful to the teachers and youth workers who encouraged me during my high school years to explore the wonderful world of drama.

While I was in high school, being encouraged to explore my passion for drama, I was also encouraged to explore where I stood spiritually. I am grateful to the Christian teachers at my public high school and the youth leaders from my church who helped me to see that my life would be out of balance if I only addressed my physical, emotional, and social needs while neglecting my spiritual needs.

The summer before my sophomore year in high school, I attended a church camp. My Sunday school teacher asked me if I had made a decision to follow Jesus Christ. I told her that honestly, I had not. I lived what I thought was a good life, but I in no way could be considered a follower of any religion. Bible in hand, she showed me Scriptures that changed me life. She showed me Romans 3:23 which helped me to see that everyone had broken the laws of God. She turned to Romans 6:23 where it said that because of everyone’s wrong doings that they were separated from God. She showed me John 3:16 where I came to understand that Jesus Christ died to take the punishment for the wrong doings of the whole world. In Romans 10:9-10 she showed me that if I would ask Jesus to forgive me and accept in faith that he died for me that I could have a restored relationship with God. I believed what the Bible said and I made a decision to ask Jesus to forgive me and become a part of my life.

I went on to graduate from high school and I was blessed with a scholarship to a Christian college where I studied drama, led our college drama troupe, earned degrees in education and psychology, and met the man of my dreams whom I promptly married the week after we graduated. We’ve lived in Arkansas, Virginia, Kentucky, Kazakhstan, and now make our home in New Orleans where we keep our TV tuned to the weather channel and where I try to make people laugh by putting on a crazy costume, a big wig, fake nails, and false eye lashes.

This is my story. This is the real me without a crazy costume, a big wig, fake nails, and false eye lashes. I’m a regular person who is grateful for the extraordinary blessings of her life. This is the real Kathy Frady.
